8TH GRADE DRAMA
8th grade Theatre is the highest level theatre class at PGMS. This class is performance-based, meaning students will be in front of an audience often. 8th Grade Theatre is all about fine-tuning acting/dramatic skills and preparing students to continue on with acting into high school.
Students in 8th Grade Theatre will build upon and improve their skills in acting and stage performing, character development, stage movement, audition techniques, and tech theatre to prepare and present a large ensemble musical for an audience. Auditions and/or performance evaluations are required for participation in this course and performances outside the regular school day may count as a portion of the student’s overall grade.

7th Grade Theatre picks up where 6th Grade leaves off, but it is not required of students to have taken the class in 6th grade. Like in 6th grade, this class is performance-based, meaning students will be in front of an audience often. Emphasis is placed on developing acting/dramatic skills, with students being given a broad range of material to perform, both in solo and small group settings. Students in this class will begin creating and producing original material, and exploring the technical production side of theatre.
